Alan’s catalogue includes a few songs from the Blur inspiring (‘Modern Life Is Rubbish’) LP ‘Well At least It’s British’. Also singles including his very topical ,then and now, Age Of Corruption. Back then it was a take on Eve of Destruction.
26.6.11 - Anyone catch the repeat of that great documentary on Sister Rosetta Tharpe ? Shown on BBC 4, made by Mick Csáky, the most awesome footage is of Tharpe in her Sunday best plus blonde wig knocking out the meanest R&B licks on her electric guitar. A more incongruous sight you can’t imagine. The talking heads are great too, real people from the time and place. These include a Dixie Hummingbird, and a son of, Ira Tucker. The latter kindly corresponded with us for our reissue on Shout! Records of the Hummingbird LP ‘A Christian Testimonial’. Also featured on the programme is Anthony Helibut, the noted historian on gospel music. Again on Shout! we have the album ‘The Gospel Sound’, based on Anthony’s book of the same name first published in 1971, and endorsed by Anthony.

Bunny recorded and produced Marilyn Powell , whose 60’s recordings we now have on a license from Marilyn for digital download via our online label popgear. Our next project from this stable will be The Caravelles. 91 year old Janique was once an entertainer with ENSA during WW11, a dancer with the Folies Bergeres, acted in Hitchcock’s wartime propaganda film ‘Bon Voyage’, then ran the above named agency guiding the likes of singer Craig Douglas.
4.6.11 - Billy Stewart’s 'Unbelievable' and 'Cross My Heart' albums cleared for reissue on SHOUT! . 4.5.11 - 'Loving Friends' is the title of a previously unreleased LP by CLARE TORRY and JOHN FYFFE (of the 60's folk band The Settlers). This has just been released on popgear via digital download. Recorded and produced by Richard Hill(composer/writer of The Canterbury Tales musical) in 1977, their label deal fell through and in time honoured fashion the LP remained on the shelf as all parties moved on with their respective busy schedules. Fans of Torry's soaring yet emotive vocals will not be disappointed.
