About us

Another Planet Music is a group of enterprises primarily working in the field of promoting and selling vintage recordings and songs.

It has grown out of the various activities from the past 25+ years in the music industry, led by Mark Stratford.

During that time a major part has been played in the release of over 450 albums through a variety of outlets.

Today the group is enhanced through the services of a circle of experts who contribute on a regular basis. These include sound engineers, artwork designers, sleeve note writers, A&R researchers, producers, and not forgetting a large number of performing artists and songwriters.

It all began in 1985 selling Elvis Costello, Robert Cray, Nanci Griffth, Adrian Legg, Rory Block, Loudon Wainwright, Dick Gaughan, Rockin Dopsie, Sweet Honey In The Rock, Green On Red, plus the 49 Minute Technicolour Dream, Kent Stop Dancin, Nuggets, to the unsuspecting record store buyers in Britain. Then working with the labels promoting The Oyster Band, Michelle Shocked, Charles Mann,The Bhundu Boys, Runrig, Ted Hawkins, Celina Gonzalez, Mahotella Queens, Gregson & Collister. Followed by the first compilations, Steelye Span, Mamas & Papas, Deep Purple, Hoagy Carmichael, Kool & The Gang, Lennon & McCartney Songbook, Tom Robinson, Crusaders. RPM Records then began with Glenda Collins, I Hear A New World, Sandie Shaw, Twinkle, Ritchie Blackmore, Petula Clark, Timi Yuro, Spencer Davis Group. Outside projects took in Status Quo, Nils Lofgren, The Au Pairs, Dory Previn, Brian Protheroe, Climax Blues Band, Comsat Angels, Snowy White, Twiggy. Transistor ran as sidekick with The Heavy Blinkers, Eighteenth Day Of May, (Mark) Stoney, Jim Reid (JAMC). And much more besides...
